(Makes 9 servings)
Ingredients:
- 4 large eggs, room temperature, lightly beaten
- 2 cups 2% milk
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon Tora Chai Classic Masala
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons rum, optional
- 6 slices day-old French bread (1 inch thick), cubed
- 1/3 cup sliced almonds
- Vanilla ice cream or sweetened whipped cream
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (176°C)
- In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, brown sugar, Tora Chai Classic Masala, vanilla extract, salt and bread. (rum optional)
- Gently stir the mixture, letting the bread soak; let stand for 15 minutes or until the bread is soft
- Transfer to a greased 8-in. square baking dish
- Sprinkle with almonds
- Bake uncovered until puffed and golden, and a knife inserted in the center comes out clean, for about 35-40 minutes
- Serve warm with ice cream or sweetened whipped cream
- Enjoy your delicious, spice-adorned bread pudding!
